Garden Chronicles : April 17th, 2012

Lots of hard work from tribe families and Mark and Suzi from Farm 2 Family has only given the beginnings of a perfect space for the children to learn and explore freely.

Watching the garden evolve brings back memories of last years garden adventures and how every week was a surprise--new plants growing, new critters, and surprises left from friends.

Everyone worked hard.  No one even noticed the carnival in the background.
And now we have a place to rest.
Houses left for the fairies.

What else would we do on a hot day?

See some of us in the background flying our plarn/plastic bag kite!

We are pulling some more tinkering opportunities into our day--sometimes it can be an wonderful experience when none of us know what we are doing and we work together through trial and error.

I think some wind for the kite would have been helpful.
tinkering away

We even had time to play some
 games and learn some Spanish

We even managed some down time for lunch,
phone calls, shopping, and...

Even a vulture came by to see if he could clean up anything for us.

Garden Chronicles: April 3rd, 2012

Well it must have been a successful day in the garden:

The kids are exhausted and some are sleeping...check!

                                                         My feet are filthy...check!

I can't get the dirt out from under my nails...check!

                      And my neck is red...check

Sure, missed this feeling--it must be SPRING!

We got in some last minute
egg dying!

Thank you Mr. Blake!

We made some more bean pole teepees!
We worked on the playgarden!

Someone wanted to continue their digging to the center of the Earth.

And we had some quiet time working with manipulatives.

Sorry about missing last week, I have not missed
getting together with our tribe in a long time.
Fortunately the party continued without me and while
I have even less pictures from last week than this week--always a wonderful sign that we are too busy to click pics--we
can see the fruits of their labor growing strong.

Our Trip to the Zoo!

If you have not made it over to the Metro Richmond Zoo you are missing out on a day of surprises and joyful giggling from little ones all the way up to us old folks.  We have made this trip to the zoo several times but never have we had as much fun--everything is better with good friends!

Here are a few pics from our day!

We explored all the animals,  not just the zoo animals.
Nursing baby gibbon.
Tiger with a "licking the fence" habit.

Camel feeding time???

Feeding time at the gator pond.

Some of the gang

Some more of the gang
Those Appleseeds...always trying to take animals home.

More un-zoo animals.

More Beauty!

No interest in watching the tigers.

Feeding the budgies,
we sooo need to
build a big cage with
 tribe so we can
 do this all day!

Human Treats

Did you know that lemurs meow?

Gotta love some goats!
